Smithfield Lays Off More Hog Workers

A Murphy-Brown facility that supplies Smithfield with hogs for processing in Dallas, Texas is to lay off 117 workers.
The layoffs which are scheduled to take effect in mid-October were filed with the Texas Workforce Commission, the state employment department, under the provisions of the federal Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act.
In June Smithfield cut 140 jobs at the Dalhart facility.
