Opportunity to Comment on AVMA Veterinary Industry Forum Topics

Do you believe veterinarians should be given greater latitude in terms of license portability? Should the AVMA consider expanding its membership to include veterinary team members such as veterinary technicians, hospital managers, and other staff?

We want your input as your AVMA House of Delegates (HOD) prepares to discuss the following topics at our upcoming Veterinary Information Forum (VIF) on January 7. The topics are:

• License Portability: This was a topic at the July 2018 VIF. The consensus of the HOD at that time was that the AVMA Model Veterinary Practice Act addresses the topic adequately. The topic is being revisited with a new focus on practice changes resulting from the pandemic, workforce challenges, and the need for veterinary professional services in disaster relief.
• Expanding AVMA Membership: This high-level discussion will explore the possibilities of offering a type of AVMA membership to veterinary team members such as credentialed veterinary technicians, hospital managers, and other staff.
