AASV Members Participate in Licensing Examination

Unless you’re a student member, you may not have spent a lot of time thinking about the North American Veterinary Licensing Examination (NAVLE) recently, but some AASV members have. Our members are among the team of US and Canadian veterinarians that review NAVLE items to insure that questions are relevant for modern swine medicine. Other members are recruited annually to write new items for the NAVLE. The AASV also appoints one member to serve on the National Board of Veterinary Medical Examiners (NBVME), the organization charged with developing and administering the NAVLE. Over the years, AASV members have dedicated countless unpaid hours to represent our organization in this endeavor.

At the July meeting of the NBVME, Dr. Rick Tubbs was honored for his nine years of service on the board. During this time, Dr. Tubbs also served on the NBVME executive committee and as Chairman. Dr. Tubbs has volunteered to use his experience to represent the AASV in NAVLE development in the coming years. Please join me in thanking Dr. Tubbs for his time, effort, and professionalism as he has represented the AASV in this important role.

[Editor's note: Thanks to Dr. Karen Lehe for providing this update on the AASV's involvement in the NAVLE and NBVME.]
