Veterinarians Without Borders Opportunities

Veterinarians Without Borders, U.S. (VWB) is pleased to offer a unique international humanitarian aid volunteer opportunity to veterinarians. Continuing Promise and Pacific Partnership 2013 are joint humanitarian assistance disaster response (HA/DR) missions hosted by the US Navy. Participants include the Department of Defense, many inter-governmental agencies and non-governmental organizations, host/partner nations in the SOUTHCOM (Americas and Caribbean) and PACOM (South Pacific) theaters of operation, as well as military from other nations. For veterinary purposes, the focus will be increasing food security, increasing veterinary capacity, and improving animal agriculture, husbandry and health. Long term relationships with partner nations/communities are developed to support economic development and sustainability in order that people may access healthy and reliable food sources.

Any veterinary health care providers with large/mixed animal basic diagnostic/husbandry/disease detection skills who are interested in contributing to international development through such joint humanitarian efforts are encouraged to contact VWB for additional information. The initial deadline for submission of credentialing documents for the first rotations of the Continuing Promise mission is January 20. Deadlines for subsequent rotations will be announced.

Pacific Partnership has a specific need for veterinarians with expertise in swine and poultry husbandry, nutrition, disease detection/mitigation, production and care. For further information, please contact:
