Position Announcement: APHIS Veterinary Medical Officer, Swine Health Programs

USDA APHIS VS is seeking a Veterinarian to join the Swine Health Programs Team as a veterinary medical officer (VMO). The position is located in Riverdale, Maryland.

The selected candidate will serve as a member of the Swine Health Programs Team on the Aquaculture, Swine, Equine and Poultry (ASEP) Health Programs staff. The Swine Health Programs staff assist in administering the Swine Health Protection Act and various swine surveillance programs including SIV surveillance, CSF surveillance, and pseudorabies and swine brucellosis surveillance programs. The roles and responsibilities of the selected candidate could include providing assistance to federal and state veterinary managers on cooperative disease surveillance and eradication programs; evaluating and interpreting scientific diagnostic reports; clarifying and or recommending changes to new or existing swine surveillance and eradication program procedures; reviewing materials pertaining to a states program disease status; and, reviewing/maintaining policy documents.
