Position Announcement: Regional Sales Manager, Swine

DESCRIPTION:

Boehringer Ingelheim is currently seeking a talented and innovative Regional Sales Manager, Swine to join our Swine Sales department located in Kansas City, Mo. As a Regional Sales Manager, Swine you will provide leadership to the Regional Sales Team and manage all aspects of sales activity to achieve assigned sales budgets & agreed upon non-financial objectives for swine producers and veterinarians within the manager's area of responsibility.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide leadership and facilitate the building of a cohesive team for the sales representatives under your direction. Be responsible for implementing, supervising, and evaluating sales force activities with the expressed goal to meet/exceed agreed upon annual sales objectives
  • Providing direction, guidance and coaching of direct reports in selling skills through regular (4X/year) "MAX" reviews
  • Assist in the development of key account plans and supervise the execution of the plan by the assigned sales representative. Follow CVM objectives for maximum results in targeted customer segments. Communicate with PSV colleagues to build alignment of business objectives
  • Utilize designated CRM application to generate contact reports to evaluate the effectiveness of account plan execution
  • Coordinate with Director of Sales, Swine Leadership Team, and Brand Managers on contract pricing, bids and program pricing for assigned customer base
  • Travel requests, expense reports, vacation requests, vehicle mileage reports, etc. are completed per company policy
  • Provide a monthly sales report including a brief sales analysis for all key accounts within the region
  • Ensure data entry compliance by all direct reports is maintained in contact management software as required by management
  • Ensure each direct report is able to demonstrate competency in using sales reporting applications and is regularly .
  • Continuously identify and recommend ways to improve the efficiency and performance of the sales force

QUALIFICATIONS:

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum of BS in Agriculture, Life Sciences, or related field
  • Graduate degree preferred (MBA or similar)
  • A minimum of 5 years successful sales experience, in animal health preferred
  • A minimum of 2 years successful management experience required

DESIRED EXPERIENCE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills
  • Excellent interpersonal, leadership, motivational and coaching skills
  • Proficiency in MS Office and other database applications
  • Ability to travel (may include overnight travel)
  • Should reside in region geography or be willing to relocate
  • Valid Driver's License and an acceptable driving record
  • Authorization and ability to drive a company-leased vehicle or authorized rental vehicle

INTERNAL CANDIDATES:

  • Max Plan rating of MET EXPECTATIONS for past 3 years of Company employment
  • No discipline in Personnel File
  • Not currently on Performance Improvement Plan
  • Must have 6 months in current job communication and presentation skills.
  • Above average computer skills in MS-Office, C-Global, COGNOS & ReportNet applications.
  • Results oriented with a history of goal achievement.
