New CSF Outbreak in Croatia
November 1, 2006 —
Croatia's agriculture ministry has reported a new outbreak of Classical Swine Fever (CSF) in the eastern part of the country. This follows a recent outbreak which was brought under control in July 2006 after the slaughter of 2500 pigs.
The current outbreak was confirmed on October 23 following the deaths of 100 pigs. The government is set to slaughter 3600 pigs in an attempt to control the outbreak. The source of the outbreaks is thought to be contact with wild boar.
