Smithfield Foods to Expand Operations in Romania

Smithfield Foods announced plans to invest more than $850 million in its pork production operations in Romania over the next 10 years.
The company is currently upgrading its pork processing plant in Timisoara, Romania (map) which will process 16,000 pigs per day - 4 million pigs annually. The company currently employs 989 people and expects its latest investments to create an additional 811 jobs.
