Drought and Severe Weather Prompt Emergency Declaration

USDA Secretary Mike Johanns has declared a number of counties in California, Texas, Kansas, Oregon, Minnesota and Virginia as agriculture disaster areas as a result of severe drought and weather conditions. This designation allows farmers and ranchers in the affected counties to apply for low interest federal loans. A list of the counties impacted can be seen at the following link: http://www.usda.gov/2005/09/0365.xml.
