The restaurant, farming and agriculture, and grocery industries are among the most highly regarded in the United States, ranking first, third and fourth, respectively, according to a recent Gallup Organization poll. (Computers came in at No. 2.)
The 1,001 adults surveyed nationwide rated their image of 25 business sectors on a five-point scale from "very positive" to "very negative." Fifty eight percent had a positive attitude toward the restaurant, farming and agriculture, and grocery industries. Negative votes tallied against the restaurant, farming and agriculture, and grocery industries amounted to only 8 percent, 13 percent and 15 percent, respectively.
Americans hold the oil and gas industry and legal field in the lowest regard: Of those polled, 62 percent and 47 percent, respectively, regard those sectors negatively.
