FMD in Myanmar
August 25, 2005 —
According to an August 25, 2005 report from OIE, an outbreak of Foot-and-Mouth Disease (FMD) virus type Asia1 has been confirmed in 2 districts in the State of Kayah, Myanmar. The outbreak began on July 27, 2005 and has resulted in 22 cases of FMD in 998 head of cattle. Control measures including vaccination are being undertaken. The last reported outbreak of FMD type Asia1 in Myanmar was in 2001. The source of the current outbreak is unknown.
