Iowa Swine Day 2017 will Showcase Nationally Recognized Pork Industry Speakers

Iowa Swine Day 2017 builds on a successful history of addressing current issues and opportunities facing today's producers. The June 29 event features speakers from a variety of backgrounds and expertise, including morning plenary session presenters Dr. Joe Schwarcz of McGill University, who will discuss misconceptions about the use of science in agriculture; Mark Greenwood, senior vice president at AgStar Financial Services, who will discuss the future state of the U.S. pork industry; Dr. Dhamu Thamodaran, executive vice president, Smithfield Foods, presenting a review of commodity trends globally and consumer trends nationally; and Bruce Vincent, executive director, Provider Pals, who will make a presentation about understanding society's concerns about environmental issues and animal husbandry issues and how that is critical in positively engaging that public body.

Presentations in the afternoon concurrent sessions will provide updates on PRRS, PEDv and Seneca Valley Virus; progress in the implementation of the new VFDs; and additional topics related to the new restrictions on feed antibiotics.

In addition to information, lunch, and refreshments, the $50 registration fee (before June 18) provides an evening barbecue meal sponsored by the acclaimed Smokey D's. To register, or for more information, visit the conference website at http://www.aep.iastate.edu/iowaswineday/.
