ICPR Accepting Abstracts for 2017 Conference

Organizers of the 10th International Conference on Pig Reproduction are accepting abstracts from industry scientists for presentations and poster sessions. Authors of selected abstracts will be invited to present a poster or deliver a talk at the conference, June 11-14, 2017, on the University of Missouri campus in Columbia, Mo.

Submission deadline is Thursday, Dec. 15. Abstract guidelines and online submission form are available at http://www.muconf.missouri.edu/ICPR2017. Only one abstract per presenting author is allowed, but there is no limit on the number of co-author submissions, said Tim Safranski, MU Extension state swine specialist and member of the local organizing committee. All abstracts will be peer-reviewed, and authors will be advised accordingly by Jan. 31, 2017.

While many sessions will provide useful information with application for producers, the conference is mainly geared toward research and industry scientists, Safranski noted.

“This is cutting-edge stuff,” he said. “You’re going to hear about this 10 years from now, but this is your chance to hear it now.”

Each general session will cover one of three topics: gametes and embryos; pregnancy, parturition and the neonate; and environmental effects on pig reproduction. Breakout sessions follow two concurrent tracks: applied and basic science.

The conference, which started in 1981, is held every four years. The venue originally alternated between the University of Nottingham and the University of Missouri, but since MU last hosted the conference in 2001, ICPR has also been held in the Netherlands, Canada and Poland.
