People on the Move: Dr. Gil Patterson

Dr. Gil Patterson has recently moved into a new position at the College of Veterinary Medicine at Lincoln Memorial University (LMU), located in Harrogate, Tennessee. Dr. Patterson’s primary role will be managing the initiatives of the recently established Center for Animal Health in Appalachia (CAHA). These include conducting animal and agricultural-related research for the region, advocacy for agriculture, education of veterinarians in rural animal health, and advance regional development through community related education and training. He will also play a role in the teaching of swine medicine and veterinary public health issues for LMU’s veterinary students.

Prior to moving into his new position, Dr. Patterson completed a residency in Veterinary Public Health and Preventive Medicine at the University of Minnesota. During the course of his residency, Dr. Patterson also earned a Master of Public Health (MPH) degree, and became a Diplomat in the American College of Veterinary Preventive Medicine (ACVPM). Dr. Patterson worked in private practice at the Swine Vet Center of St. Peter, MN, before starting the residency.
