Position Announcement: Senior Associate Director - Swine Technical Marketing

Boehringer Ingelheim seeks a Senior Associate Director of Swine Technical Marketing. Develop, implement and lead the technical strategy for the US swine business to meet the swine business objectives. Oversee and lead the Health Management Center (HMC) Team and technical marketing team.

Job Description

  • Lead the development and implementation of an overarching strategic technical plan. This strategy needs to incorporate brand related, cross portfolio and HMC opportunities. Coordinate the generation of scientific and diagnostic information in support of the BI swine strategy. Communicate strategic direction to internal partners to ensure alignment.
  • Manage and direct the development of a strategic technical plan for each brand in support of the brand plans. Oversee the development of technical objectives, strategies and tactics per brand. Define strategies and monitoring of the ARC programs and other portfolio solutions offerings and oversee the associated tactics. Manage the development of a long term strategic plan for the HMC (Diagnostic Lab & FRS) in support of the BI swine strategy. Coordinate the generation of scientific information in support of a brand (disease) areas, cross portfolio solutions and diagnostics.
  • Lead & direct the technical managers and Health Management Center managers (diagnostic laboratory and field research services) to ensure strategic technical projects are successfully selected, implemented and completed utilizing approved and validated processes and procedures. Continually implement improvements in processes and procedures to maximize effectiveness of resources.
  • Ensures that the department is staffed with qualified personnel. Responsible for recruiting and hiring qualified candidates to ensure all allocated positions are filled. Effectively administers salary and reward programs. Coach/mentor, develop, motivate and monitor team members' performance, to include: actionable MAG Plans, regular coaching/mentoring, and conduct timely MAG Plan reviews. Identify performance challenges, create action plans and monitor the effectiveness of these action plans. Ensures active development plans and required technical knowledge of personnel.
  • Represents technical marketing team (Technical managers & HMC) on the Swine Leadership Team in a cross functional manner creating and driving the Swine Business Unit Strategy. Collaborates cross functionally on an ongoing basis with Global Marketing colleagues, R&D, Sales & Marketing Solutions and peers from other business units.
  • Effectively manage expenses and direct team members to invest in activities that provide highest value to the organization and customers and yield the largest ROI. Focus technical marketing and HMC team resources per strategic direction of the swine leadership team.
  • Assist in the development, management and monitoring of the swine brands including the brand plans, brand performance, brand messaging and promotional materials, forecast and brand expense budget. Develop the business plan for the cross portfolio team to ensure tools and activities are developed in line with the Swine business objectives.
  • Assist in monitoring and analyzing latest trends in the market, competition and products performance; communicate insights and recommendations to team members. Provide input to market research on study design and interpret findings to refine product marketing direction. Utilize this information to develop further brand, cross brand and diagnostic tools to support the swine team and swine business objectives.
  • Coordinates the development and implementation of a Key Opinion Leader strategy to optimize the technical and brand strategies and tactics within the US swine business.
  • Performs all Company business in accordance with all regulations (e.g. EEO, FDA, OSHA etc.) and Company policies and procedures. When violations are noted/observed they are to be immediately reported to management. Demonstrates high ethical and professional standards with all business contacts in order to main BIVI’s excellent reputation within the community.

Requirements:

  • DVM degree required; MBA preferred.
  • Minimum eight (8) years’ experience in the pharmaceutical industry, including four (4) years US pharmaceutical marketing experience or other relevant experience.
  • At least three (3) years of experience in swine production.
  • One (1) to three (3) years demonstrated project management skills.
  • One (1) to three (3) years demonstrated leadership skills and ability to manage and coordinate groups.
  • Demonstrated understanding and ability to monitor budget and resources.
  • Demonstrated ability to achieve results in a highly matrixed organization.
  • Proficiency in MS Office, Outlook and database applications.
  • Ability to travel (will include overnight travel).
