OMS Celebrates 11th Anniversary

Happy birthday Operation Main Street (OMS) volunteers! You’ve been going strong and getting the word out about today’s pig farming for 11 years. [Source: OMS Newsletter, November 13, 2015]

The first class of OMS speakers was trained in November 2004. Since then, more than 1,000 volunteers in more than 42 states have been trained as OMS speakers.

Through the years OMS volunteers have kept showing their passion and commitment to set the record straight by achieving new and important milestones. More than 8,300 OMS speeches have been scheduled to consumers, high school students, college veterinary and nutrition students, along with professional dietetic and veterinary associations.

More than 240,000 people have heard firsthand from OMS volunteer speakers. Media coverage of their speeches has reached an audience estimated at more than 34 million.

Thank you OMS volunteers for all you do for pig farmers everywhere!

[Editor’s note: AASV members are making a significant contribution to the OMS project. OMS reports that 50 speakers over the last five weeks have given 154 presentations. By our count, at least 20 of those speakers are AASV members and contributed 57 presentations!]
