National Action Plan for Combating Antibiotic-Resistant Bacteria

On March 27, the White House released the comprehensive National Action Plan for Combating Antibiotic-Resistant Bacteria (Action Plan) that identifies critical actions to be taken by key Federal departments and agencies to combat the rise of antibiotic-resistant bacteria.

To provide advice, information, and recommendations regarding programs and policies intended to support and evaluate the Action Plan, the Secretary of Health and Human Services (HHS) established the Presidential Advisory Council on Combating Antibiotic-Resistant Bacteria (Advisory Council). HHS’ Office of the Assistant Secretary for Health is currently seeking nominations of individuals who are interested in being considered for appointment to the Advisory Council. Livestock producers and veterinarians are supporting a slate of nominees for appointment to the Council.
