Nominations Open for District Director Positions

Have you ever considered serving the AASV in a governing role? Nominations for the office of AASV District Director are currently being sought in two AASV districts. Nomination cards are being mailed now to all eligible voters in districts #4 (Indiana and Michigan) and #6 (Iowa). Potential candidates must be Active AASV members residing in the district to be represented (Affiliate, Associate, and Student Members are not eligible to hold office or vote). Nominations must be returned by mail to arrive in the AASV office by April 17. In each district, the two nominees receiving the most nominations will be placed on the ballot, subject to their consent to serve.

In district 4, the current director, Dr. Jeffrey Harker, has completed a single term and is eligible to serve a second term, if nominated and elected. In district 6, the current director (Dr. Alex Ramirez) has been elected to serve as AASV Vice President, and is no longer able to represent district 6 on the Board of Directors.

Each newly elected district director will serve a three-year term of office which will begin at the conclusion of the election in May.

The AASV district directors (eleven in all), along with the officers, form the governing board of the AASV. The Board of Directors meets twice annually (typically March and October) to set policies and conduct association business. Occasionally, the Board conducts additional conference calls or e-mail discussions. For more information, contact the AASV office (Tel: 515-465-5255, E-mail: aasv@aasv.org).
