ISU Swine Disease Conference to Remember McKean, Hurd
November 5, 2014 — Iowa State University
During the opening session of next week's Iowa State University Swine Disease Conference, organizers will take time to remember Drs. James McKean and Scott Hurd. The two ISU veterinarians, who passed away earlier this year, were long-time contributors to the conference.
The Swine Disease Conference, to be held November 13-14 in Ames, Iowa, will focus on emerging swine pathogens and their control, improvements in diagnostics, and risk-based controls useful for on-farm health plan development. Special emphasis this year is on porcine epidemic diarrhea (PED), and the new challenges for swine veterinarians in better diagnosing and controlling this new disease that has had a tremendous impact on the US swine industry. To take advantage of this opportunity for continuing education, networking, and quality research, register at http://www.extension.iastate.edu/registration/events/conferences/swine/register.html.
