Position Announcement: ISU Swine Extension Veterinarian (application date extended)

The College of Veterinary Medicine at Iowa State University is seeking applications for a full-time, clinical or tenure-track position in the department of Veterinary Diagnostic and Production Animal Medicine (VDPAM). Applications will be accepted at the clinician or senior clinician, assistant, associate, or full professor levels.

The successful candidate will join a department with 54 food animal focused faculty members and 120 staff employees. This position will commit approximately 50-60% of time to Extension, 25-35% to research, 5-10% to teaching, and 3-5% to institutional service. The primary responsibility will be developing and delivering extension programming to swine veterinarians, swine producers, and allied industries in Iowa and the U.S. This position will interact on a regular basis with faculty in the Iowa Pork Industry Center, the ISU Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory, and leadership and members of the Iowa Pork Producer Association, Iowa Veterinary Medical Association, the National Pork Board, and the American Association of Swine Veterinarians. The person in this position is expected to establish independent and collaborative, extramurally-funded research programs related to swine production medicine. Opportunities exist to contribute to teaching in the veterinary curriculum and to engage professional students in learning opportunities in the field.
