Position Announcement: Swine Health Faculty

The University of Minnesota, College of Veterinary Medicine, Department of Veterinary Population Medicine announces career opportunities for tenured and tenure-track faculty positions in Swine Health. The College seeks highly motivated individuals with the ability to build and lead basic/applied research programs that contribute to advancing swine health and production. The faculty will work in collaboration with the Swine Disease Eradication Center (SDEC) an internationally recognized group of expert faculty and industry partners that work collaboratively to understand the immunology, pathogenesis and epidemiology of diseases impacting swine production and health; to develop strategies and techniques for disease eradication and welfare improvement; and to support sound food policies at the national and international levels. Appointments will be at the rank of assistant, associate or full professor, depending on qualifications and experience and consistent with collegiate and University policies.

Requirements

Candidates must have a PhD and demonstrated experience in infectious disease research; DVM or equivalent foreign degree is preferred. Candidates are expected to have scientific research expertise relevant to understanding mechanisms of animal health and disease, or expertise in epidemiology and disease control, and a desire to help solve swine health and disease problems. Collaborative and interdisciplinary research is strongly encouraged by the Department.

Duties

These positions are 50% to 100% research. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing an independent research program in the area of swine health and disease. Opportunities for education of veterinary students, graduate students and outreach/continuing education will be available.

Salary/Rank

Commensurate with experience and qualifications.

Start Date

September 1, 2013 or until positions are filled.
