Opportunity to Serve: AASV District Director

Have you ever considered serving the AASV in a governing role? Nominations for the office of AASV District Director are currently being sought in three AASV districts. Nomination cards will be mailed to all eligible voters in districts 3 (Arkansas, Kentucky, and Missouri), 6 (Iowa), and 8 (Nebraska and South Dakota). Potential candidates must be Active AASV members residing in the district to be represented (Affiliate, Associate, and Student Members are not eligible to hold office or vote). In each district, the two nominees receiving the most nominations will be placed on the ballot, subject to their consent to serve.

In districts 3 and 8, the current directors, Drs. Bill Starke and Brian Schantz, have each completed a single term and are eligible to serve a second term, if nominated and elected. In district 6, Dr. Kent Schwartz has served two terms and is not eligible for re-election.

The newly elected district directors will begin a three-year term of office at the conclusion of the 2013 spring Board of Directors meeting in San Diego.

The AASV district directors (eleven in all), along with the officers, form the governing board of the AASV. The Board of Directors meets twice annually to set policies and conduct association business, once in conjunction with the AASV annual meeting in March, and again in October. Occasionally, the Board conducts additional conference calls or e-mail discussions. For more information, contact the AASV office (Tel: 515-465-5255, E-mail: aasv@aasv.org).
