Position Announcement: Faculty Position - Swine Health Management

The Department of Population Medicine, Ontario Veterinary College, University of Guelph, is seeking applicants for a tenure-track faculty position in Swine Health Management at the Assistant Professor level. Applicants will have a DVM or equivalent degree, clinical practice experience with swine, and will be eligible for licensure to practice veterinary medicine in Ontario. Preference will be given to applicants who have multiple years of experience in rural mixed animal veterinary practice. A PhD or DVSc degree in swine health management, epidemiology, or a related field is required.

The successful candidate will contribute to swine-related teaching to all four years of the DVM program and also to graduate students. The candidate will assist in delivering clinical service within the Swine Field Service Clinic of the OVC Health Sciences Centre and through this, will teach final year DVM clinical rotations. The successful candidate will have demonstrated experience and motivation to lead both teaching and clinical duties in swine and will actively participate in the mentoring of rural and food animal stream students. Additional teaching duties will include the undergraduate Animal Health course for BSc students. The successful candidate will have demonstrated productivity in research related to swine health management. He/She will be expected to develop both independent and collaborative research programs in an area of swine health management and generate research funds to support graduate student training to the MSc and PhD or DVSc levels.
