Position Announcement: Director of Health Services

PIC seeks a Director of Health Services to lead the Health Services team globally, improve herd health of current and prospective customers, and improve the performance of PIC products. The position will be located in the Midwest or Hendersonville, Tenn, and reports to the Global Director of Technical Services.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from an accredited veterinary college.
  • Minimum seven years experience in swine medicine and/or production management, with a history of effectively leading high performing teams.
  • Familiarity with computer hardware and software, including working knowledge of contemporary record keeping systems (PigChamp, Agristats, etc.)
  • Ability to evaluate pig production systems and to generate intervention strategies to improve herd health, production processes, and production/financial results.
  • Ability to assimilate, analyze and communicate technical information effectively, including the generation of technical documents and materials to support sales.
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  • Positive and proactive attitude in group and individual work environments.
  • Willingness to travel both domestically and internationally.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Establish effective professional relationships with customers’ veterinarians and key production personnel to enable PIC account objectives and product performance.
  • Interact with customers and perform site visits to insure PIC product performance in breeding herds and growing pigs.
  • Monitor performance levels and “troubleshoot” units with unacceptable levels of performance.
  • Perform health and biosecurity audits of customers’ systems.
  • Make specific, best-practice recommendations to customers that will improve herd health and maximize genetic potential of PIC products within customer’s system/herd.
  • Perform animal welfare assessments of customers’ herds as needed.
  • Organize and conduct meetings with customers, veterinarians, and other key stakeholders.
  • Develop and deliver relevant training programs.
  • Develop, with members of the Technical Services team, comprehensive plans aimed at creating value with customers through PIC products, technology and/or services.
  • Interface with Technical Services, Sales, Supply Chain, and others on issues concerning product performance.
  • Work with the Health Assurance team in ensuring the success of high-health programs.
  • Remain current in area of responsibility through establishing a network of industry and academic contacts, studying literature and attending scientific/industry meetings.
  • Assist in applied research and development of novel health and production technologies.
  • Maintain confidentiality with customer specific information, along with product and program knowledge that is proprietary and specific to PIC.
