2013 Carlos Pijoan Graduate Student Fellowship

The University of Minnesota is requesting applications for the 2013 Carlos Pijoan Graduate Student Fellowship in Swine Medicine. This endowed fellowship provides support for applied research in swine health for a graduate student at the University of Minnesota, College of Veterinary Medicine.

Goal

The objective of the Fellowship is to train the next generation of specialists in swine health and production to conduct applied research on the transmission, diagnosis, control, and elimination of economically significant diseases of swine.

Focus of research

During their graduate training, students will become exposed to an interdisciplinary approach to problem-solving, encompassing the areas of emerging and re-emerging infectious diseases, population health, and informatics. Special emphasis will be placed on developing practical solutions to real-world problems that significantly impact human, animal, and ecosystem health.
