PRRS Corner: Canadian Swine Health Board Biosecurity User Guide Available Online

To aid in the improvement of on-farm biosecurity practices and protocols, the Canadian Swine Health Board (CSHB) has developed a Biosecurity User Guide. The user guide identifies biosecurity issues, provides measures, and gives examples to help farms develop their biosecurity plan. Meant to complement the National Swine Farm-Level Biosecurity Standard, the Biosecurity User Guide has been developed so that producers and their consulting veterinarians can develop a farm biosecurity plan that achieves the Biosecurity Standard.

Online tools such as examples of standard operating procedures (biosecurity protocols), videos, pictures, factsheets, guides, and other reference material are available on the site. The User Guide was developed by a team of technical experts in swine biosecurity, and reviewed by industry swine health leaders. Examples of standard operating procedures in the User Guide were based on procedures kindly provided by the industry.
