The Maschhoffs to Acquire NPP

NPP, LLC and The Maschhoffs, LLC have reached an agreement for The Maschhoffs to purchase substantially all of NPP's swine production assets. Terms of the agreement were not disclosed.

The transaction involves approximately 50,000 sows, associated inventory and related market hog production, along with production facilities in Nebraska, Iowa and South Dakota. Representatives of NPP and The Maschhoffs called the deal a natural fit, citing the similar operating philosophies and values of the two organizations.

Once the transaction is complete, The Maschhoffs will be one of the nation's largest, independent, family-owned swine production operations, with approximately 192,000 sows.

NPP, LLC, formerly known as Nebraska Pork Partners, operates approximately 80 farms throughout Nebraska, northwest Iowa, and South Dakota.

The two organizations expect the transaction, which is subject to regulatory approval, to be completed by the end of the first quarter of 2011.
