Agro-Terrorism Workshops Scheduled for Illinois

The Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Illinois Department of Agriculture are co-hosting two one-day Food and Agro-Terrorism Workshops in Carlyle and Pittsfield on February 22 and 23. The purpose of the workshops is to provide agro-terrorism instruction to livestock producers, private industry and response personnel in an effort to better prepare the state for a response an agro-terrorism incident.

The workshop will consist of both traditional presentations and a tabletop exercise. The presentations will focus on issues related to an agro-terrorism event; to include current threats, signs and symptoms, response protocols and disposal issues. The tabletop exercise will allow participants to demonstrate their agency's/organizations roles and responsibilities in the event of an incident, as well as, to better understand the scope of such an event.

Participants in this event will include local producers, industry, veterinarians, emergency response and law enforcement personnel, as well as, federal, state and local government representatives.
