Position Announcement: Technical Consultant - Swine - Elanco

Elanco Animal Health is seeking a Swine Technical Consultant to provide quality technical support to the sales and marketing organization through customer service and research for the Elanco Animal Health Swine Business Unit. This is a field-based position with travel involved and a preferred location of Iowa.

KEY OBJECTIVES/DELIVERABLES:

  • Provide expertise and leadership in the area of the US commercial swine industry as a member of the Elanco swine technical consulting team
  • Serve as a resource for sales representatives, marketing personnel, and fellow technical consultants
  • Provide technical support in the sales process through direct contact with swine production customers
  • Participate as a team member that develops and implements trials to improve swine production practices through the use of animal health products
  • Function as a field project leader, trial monitor, or investigator
  • Participate in the ongoing development of Elanco's business strategy with marketing, sales, and technical consulting groups
  • Support the development of training, marketing, and sales materials for Elanco

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • A DVM and/or a PhD in non-ruminant nutrition, meat science, or equivalent field with 3-5 years of experience preferred
  • The candidate must have a thorough understanding of the US pork chain, commercial swine production methods, swine diseases, nutrition, and production trends for the swine industry
  • In addition, the candidate should have an established network of US pork chain contacts
  • Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to be employed in the United States. Lilly does not anticipate providing sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., H-1B or TN status) for this employment position.

  • The candidate should have excellent communication and analytical skills (both written and oral), excellent interpersonal skills, leadership skills, and a demonstrated ability to effectively work in a team environment.
