Group Hosts Symposium to Discuss Ethical, Economic and Societal Issues of Animal Ag

The Council for Agricultural Science and Technology (CAST) is hosting a symposium of more than 30 speakers and panelists to address the impacts of regulations on food-animal agriculture at all levels and analyze the intended and unintended consequences of those regulations.

The symposium, entitled Sustaining Animal Agriculture: Balancing Bioethical, Economic & Social Issues, is scheduled to be held June 8 - 10 at the USDA's South Building in Washington, DC. Topics of discussion include the ethical use of food animals, building trust in food production, societal trends, economies of scale, future certifications and regulations, sustainability, future production needs, etc.

A complete agenda is available on the CAST website. The symposium is free, but seating is limited and registration is highly recommended. On-site registration is available but discouraged due to the time needed for non-government personnel to go through security. ARPAS members will earn 14 CEUs for attendance. Confirmation will be provided upon request.
