Nominations Sought for AASV District Directors

Have you ever considered serving the AASV in a governing role? Nominations for the office of AASV District Director are being sought in three AASV districts. Nomination cards have been mailed to all eligible voters in districts 3 (Missouri, Kentucky, and Arkansas), 6 (Iowa), and 8 (Nebraska and South Dakota). Nominations must be received by mail in the AASV office by January 22.

Potential candidates must be Active AASV members residing in the district to be represented. Affiliate, Associate, and Student Members are not eligible to hold office or vote. In each district, the two nominees receiving the highest number of nominations will be placed on the ballot, subject to their consent to serve.

In district 6, the current director, Dr. Kent Schwartz, has completed one three-year term as director and is eligible for nomination to run for a second term. In districts 3 and 8, the current directors (Drs. Tom Fangman and Ron Brodersen) have each served two terms and are not eligible for re-election.

The newly elected district directors will begin a three-year term of office at the conclusion of the 2010 spring Board of Directors meeting in Omaha.

The AASV district directors (eleven in all), along with the officers, form the governing board of the AASV. The Board of Directors meets twice annually to set policies and conduct association business, once in conjunction with the AASV annual meeting in March, and again in October. Occasionally, the Board conducts additional conference calls or e-mail discussions. For more information, contact the AASV office (Tel: 515-465-5255, E-mail: aasv@aasv.org).
