Changes to Canadian Circovirus Inoculation Program
July 6, 2009 —
As a result of changes to Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada's Circovirus Inoculation Program (CIP), applicants deemed to be part of a verifiable production flow will now receive compensation for the vaccination of sows.
Applicants with healthy animals on the upstream end of a production flow will qualify for the new payments if a downstream location - a site where the applicant sells or delivers piglets - has a confirmed case of circovirus.
Applicants can use the following questions to help determine their eligibility. Did you:
- Vaccinate sows against circovirus to help immunize piglets that were sold or delivered to a location that has tested positive for circovirus?
- Purchase the vaccine and vaccinate sows against circovirus some time between March 1, 2006 and December 31, 2008?
Applicants who answered yes to all of the above are encouraged to contact the toll-free line at 1-800-667-8567 to discuss program changes and to determine their eligibility for financial assistance.
The extended deadline for applicants who meet the new eligibility criteria is August 31, 2009. Applications must be postmarked by August 31, 2009. For more information, please visit the Programs website at http://www.agr.gc.ca/cdhi
