Dr. Matthew Turner from Clinton, North Carolina, has been elected to represent AASV District 2 members on the Board of Directors. He will serve the two years remaining in the term vacated by Dr. Randy Jones upon his election to the position of AASV Vice President earlier this year. District 2 encompasses the southeastern US, including Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, Puerto Rico, South Carolina, and Tennessee.
Dr. Turner has been a member of AASV since 1997. He received his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from North Carolina State University in 2000, and is currently employed by Prestage Farms. His current contact information is available at http://www.aasv.org/members/only/directory.php.
The AASV district directors (eleven in all), along with the officers, form the governing board of the AASV. The Board of Directors meets twice annually to set policies and conduct association business, once in conjunction with the AASV annual meeting in March, and again in October. Occasionally, the Board conducts additional conference calls or e-mail discussions as needed.
