Something Unique for Every Pig Collection

Are you like me and just can't get enough pigs? When you're not working with them in the field do you surround yourself with a collection of porcine figurines and piggy banks? On family vacations do you drive the kids nuts looking for the perfect pig memorabilia that walks that fine line between art and tacky? Well, no respectable pig collection would be complete without at least one of the handcrafted one-of-a-kind items being auctioned at the 2009 AASV Foundation Auction.

First, Joyce Hay is donating a bronze baby pig sculpture. Her sculptures are so life-like and true to form that you'll be tempted to feed it. This piece will look great sitting in family room next to the booties you had bronzed when the kids were small.

Is a sculpture reproduced to the nearest centimeter, modeled in clay and cast in bronze a little too refined for your taste? Why not just whip out the old chainsaw and carve your own? Well, thanks to the good folks at Genetiporc you won't have to risk losing a limb to have one of these unique creations. You can bid on a chainsaw-carved pig created by craftsmen that would look fabulous sitting on the floor by the desk in your office.

How about something to hang on your office walls in place of the velvet Elvis? Dr. John and Andrea Baker have commissioned an artist to create a commemorative leaded glass panel celebrating 40 years of AASV! The panel measures 18" x 18", and is framed in oak, ready for hanging. This is an original, one-of-a-kind piece; there won't be another one like it - ever!

More into watercolors? Carol Rodibaugh (wife of Indiana AASV member Dr. Max Rodibaugh) has once again graciously agreed to donate an original watercolor painting. The art she has created for the Foundation over the years typically features pigs and a quilt motif, but each piece is unique and always hugely popular at the auction.

While we are no longer accepting items for the 2009 auction, we want to sincerely thank everyone that donated an item or made a contribution. We've got some great one-of-a-kind items, fabulous merchandise and wonderful trips on display on the Foundation's website. The rest is up to you. Come join us on March 9 in Dallas for the 2009 AASV Foundation Auction. Help us celebrate the 40th anniversary of the AASV by supporting your Foundation's goal of raising $80,000!
