Position Announcement: Veterinary Diagnostic Pathologist

POSITION
The Dept. of Veterinary and Biomedical Sciences (VBMS), University of Nebraska-Lincoln (UNL) invites applications for a Veterinary Diagnostic Pathologist. This is a full-time, 12-month, tenure-track, 100% Scholarly Service appointment at the rank of Assistant/Associate/Full Professor. Reporting responsibilities are to the Director of the VDC and to the Head of VBMS. Rank and salary will be commensurate with experience and accomplishments.

RESPONSIBILITIES
The primary responsibility will be to provide diagnostic pathology support for the Veterinary Diagnostic Center (VDC). The successful candidate will review case submissions, perform necropsies and histopathologic examinations, and implement ancillary testing necessary to determine diagnoses from specimens submitted to the VDC. The successful candidate will provide a written summary of findings, diagnosis and interpretive comments, and he/she will report results and provide consultation in timely fashion to referring veterinarians and clientele. The scholarly component of the appointment can include publication of research findings and/or case reports/ communications in peer-reviewed journals and presentations at professional meetings. The successful candidate will also contribute to outreach through presentations at veterinary and producer meetings, field investigations, and through newsletters and extension publications. If interested, the successful candidate may participate in teaching systemic veterinary pathology to second-year students in the Professional Program in Veterinary Medicine.

QUALIFICATIONS
DVM or equivalent, ACVP board eligibility or certification, experience in companion and food animal diagnostics and excellent communication skills (oral and written). Preferred qualifications: DVM from an AVMA-accredited school or college of veterinary medicine, MS or PhD degree in veterinary pathology or related discipline, working knowledge of livestock production systems and husbandry.
