Past AASV Member Receives North Carolina?s Highest Award

Dr. C.B. (Charlie) Randall from Kinston, NC received the Order of the Long Leaf Pine Award from NC Governor Mike Easley on May 16th. This award is the highest civilian honor that a citizen of North Carolina can receive.

Dr. Randall is a 1938 graduate of Kansas State University and practiced veterinary medicine in eastern NC until his retirement in December of 2007. He is 92 years old and reluctantly gave up his license this past December.

He was an early member of the AASV (then AASP) and served on the Board of Directors from 1977 to 1980. He was very active in the AVMA serving in the House of Delegates from 1965 to 1983. He was AVMA Vice-President for two terms 1983-1985.

Dr. Randall has served the swine industry in NC for many years and helped with the eradication of Hog Cholera, Brucellosis and Pseudorabies. He served as President of the NC Veterinary Association in 1967.
