Circovirus Got You Down? The PCVAD Committee Might be for You.

The PCVAD ad hoc committee was formed by the AASV Board of Directors at the Annual Meeting in Kansas City to address the emerging problem of Porcine Circovirus as was desired by AASV members and to develop a plan of action.

"The economic impact to producers was great and the need to gather information was needed to keep members informed on developments of the problem," says committee chair Tom Gillespie. In recent months the administration of commercially available vaccines have shown a striking response in reducing mortality rates, improving average daily gain and improved average daily intake.

The members of the committee will gather in San Diego at the annual AASV meeting to discuss recent findings by researchers, vaccine responses observed by the committee members, which will include issues of vaccine timing, any vaccine differences, and so on. One goal for the PCVAD committee has been the flow of current information back to the members of AASV. This has been accomplished by providing committee minutes and internet links on the PCVAD Committee page.

Any AASV member that would like to join in the discussion is invited to join the committee meeting on Saturday morning March 8th at the Annual meeting.
