Norway Bans Boar Castration
September 19, 2007 —
The Norwegian parliament, which passed a law in 2002 requiring veterinarians to anesthetize pigs prior to castration, have now banned the practice altogether.
Effective in 2009, Norwegian producers will not be allowed to surgically castrate male pigs even if anesthetized. The law passed on March 8, 2007.
