Pork Checkoff to Discuss Impact of Distillers Grains
October 31, 2006 —
Given the dramatic rise in ethanol production, livestock producers are faced with increasing feed costs and the necessity to consider supplementing diets with by-products such as Dried Distillers Grains (DDGs). The National Pork Board's Pork Checkoff is sponsoring a conference to discuss the implications to swine producers.
The conference, entitled "Distillers Grains: Implications for the U.S. Pork Industry" will be held November 20 at the Des Moines Marriott Downtown. The objectives of the conference are to:
- Provide a clear look at the current challenges and opportunities facing pork producers considering distillers grains.
- Provide pork producers with a comprehensive look at current research efforts and recommendations for feeding and management of DDGs in pork production.
- Provide pork producers with information that addresses economic issues relating to product quality and consistency, feed costs, transportation, industry evolvement and corn supply.
There is no cost to attend the conference and additional information is available on the Pork Checkoff website.
