EVP Discounted Registration Now Available

The University of Illinois College of Veterinary Medicine's new Executive Veterinary Program in Business Management is now accepting registrations for the upcoming certificate series. Applicants registering before May 1, 2006 will receive a $250 discount.

Dear AASV member:

Dr. Gregg BeVier concluded his Howard Dunne Memorial Lecture; Beyond the Basics: What Will the Future Bring and How Will We Get Ready?, last month at the AASV Annual Meeting by asking the question "Are you prepared to invent your future?" In his presentation he also suggested that "...future competencies for swine veterinarians are needed in business, finance, economics, supply chain, marketing, sales, leadership, general management, strategy, business development, human resources and training. At least 10% of the members of this organization should embark on future training in some of these specific areas in the next 12 months."

As a follow up to the highly regarded Executive Veterinary Program (EVP) in Swine Health Management, we at the University of Illinois' College of Veterinary Medicine are now offering the EVP in Business Management to address the very items that Dr. BeVier listed as areas that swine veterinarians need to pursue. Is it time for you to look at how this new EVP can further advance your abilities in order to prepare you to invent your future or is there someone in your practice or business that would benefit from what this program has to offer?

Following Dr. BeVier's presentation, Dr. Jim Lowe, an EVP graduate, presented his views on the future of swine veterinary medicine. The message I took away from his lecture was that "with a retooling of our skills and services, veterinarians are ideally positioned to be leaders and have tremendous success within a dynamic industry." I urge you to consider participation in the EVP in Business Management as an excellent way for you to retool and gain those skills that will enable you to continue to be successful in our industry.

Please take that step today by enrolling yourself or a member of your team for this next phase of the Executive Veterinary Program. We are offering a $250 discount for those that register by May 1, 2006. Information about this program as well as the registration form can be accessed through the EVP website below. Simply fill it out and send in your deposit to secure your spot in the next phase of EVP.
