PRRS-CAP Update

The PRRS Coordinated Agricultural Project (PRRS-CAP) quarterly newsletter was recently released. The Project, directed by Michael Murtaugh and Scott Dee, held its annual meeting and hosted the International PRRS Symposium in St. Louis on December 2nd and 3rd. PRRS-CAP has also unveiled a new PRRS website.

The International PRRS Symposium was attended by 185 scientists and veterinarians interested in PRRS research. The topics covered research in the areas of vaccinology, viral persistence, pathogenesis, diagnostics and regional elimination.

PRRS-CAP has launched a new website dedicated to the distribution of recent and current PRRS information and the facilitation of communications between researchers, veterinarians and industry stakeholders. The website can be accessed at http://www.prrs.org.

This issue of the PRRS-CAP Newsletter also includes an update on the most recent PRRS research from the University of Missouri. This research project examines the difficulties associated with RT-PCR assays to detect a broad range of field isolates.
