Genus and Sygen to Merge

Genus PLC, the world's largest provider of bovine genetics, has announced plans to acquire Sygen International PLC, the world's largest supplier of porcine genetics.
Both companies are based in the UK and operate worldwide. Sygen, headquartered in Oxfordshire, England operates in the US as PIC from Franklin, KY and has facilities in 30 countries. Genus has valued Sygen at $332.1 million. The combined company will have an estimated research budget of $25.6 million.
The new company, a worldwide leader in beef, dairy and swine genetics and shrimp breeding, will maintain the Genus and Sygen brands.
