Enrollment Open for PRRS Outbreak Management Protocol
January 9, 2024 —
Have a breeding herd experiencing a PRRS outbreak? You have the opportunity to enroll the breeding herd into the POMP (PRRS Outbreak Management Protocol) program to compare how this breeding herd compares to others in the swine industry.
Enrollment consists of filling out a survey that covers herd and viral information, immunological solutions, gilt strategies, and bio-management strategies. Those survey answers will then be compared against 3 outcome variables (Time to Stability, Time to Baseline Production and Total Losses). You will have the ability to be benchmarked against the 411 herd outbreaks already in the database.
Boehringer Ingelheim Animal Health® has sponsored $700 per herd for diagnostic testing for PRRS PCR testing or Whole Genome Sequencing in response to the outbreak. The POMP team will be releasing a benchmarking report and dashboard in order to see how this break compares to other's in the industry sometime in 2024, that is exclusive to participating veterinarians and herds.
