CE: 2023 ISU James D. McKean Swine Disease Conference Registration Open

We are eager to showcase a transformed 2023 ISU McKean Swine Disease Conference. The conference will be held on Wednesday June 28, 2023 as a one day meeting prior to Iowa Swine Day, which will be held on Thursday June 29, 2023. Although the events are separate, this provides the opportunity to feature two extraordinary conferences here in Ames.

The conference format has been adjusted to maximize the content available to you. The morning general session will cover pertinent industry topics. Including highlights from the frontlines of the ASF battlegrounds in the EU and how the US-SHIP plan is an important element in our FAD preparation. Changes and trends in swine veterinary recruiting and retention will also be examined as well as the future of antimicrobial stewardship.

The afternoon will be organized into multiple concurrent sessions featuring scientific research and applied solutions to issues veterinarians and producers are currently facing. Case study resolutions will be co-presented by pathologists and veterinarians. Topics such as the evolution of E. coli infections, Porcine Sapovirus, Astrovirus, coccidiosis as well as how to use NGS to combat PRRS and improve vaccine selection for effective Streptococcus suis management will be covered.

On Tuesday, June 27 there will be a PRRS Management Pre-Conference Workshop held from 1:00-5:00p.m. at the ISU CVM sponsored by Boehringer Ingelheim Animal Health. At the conclusion of the workshop, there will be a social hour and tour of the new ISU Veterinary Diagnostic Lab, which is scheduled to open later in the year.
