Tools Available to Benchmark your Practice
August 12, 2005 — AASV Staff
The National Commission on Veterinary Economic Issues (NCVEI) recently released a tool directed at helping food animal practitioners manage their bottom line. This tool allows practitioners to enter data specific to their practice and then shows how their economic performance in areas such as pricing, expenses, accounts receivable, product sales, etc. compares to similar practices contained in the model. The models were developed with a $150,000 grant from AVMA and can be accessed at NCVEI's website (www.ncvei.org) sponsored by Merial and Pfizer.
Swine veterinarians can use this tool to compare their practice performance with benchmark data produced by NCVEI from similar swine practices. It also provides for comparison of mixed animal practices as well. A number of benchmarking tools have been developed for each individual species practice. Access is available only to members of AVMA , AAHA, AAVMC, or CVMA.
