Call for Abstracts: Annual Applied Animal and Public Health Research and Extension Symposium

Have you recently worked on a project or developed resources related to animal or public health? Would you like to share it with an enthusiastic audience? Coordinators for the 17th Annual Applied Animal and Public Health Research and Extension Symposium are seeking presenters for the in person / virtual conference. This event is sponsored by the American Association of Extension Veterinarians (AAEV) and will be held in person / virtually on Sunday, October 24, 2021 from 3:00 pm - 6:00pm Mountain Daylight Time, coinciding with the 125th U.S. Animal Health Association/ 64rd American Association of Veterinary Laboratory Diagnosticians Annual Meeting.

Registration for the USAHA/AAVLD meeting will be required to attend and/or present at our symposium. https://www.usaha.org/2021-annual-meeting

Please see below for abstract submission guidelines and additional information. Abstracts are due by 5pm Eastern, Wednesday, September 1 2021.

Abstracts should:

  • Highlight an animal or public health topic applicable to an audience of veterinarians involved in extension, regulatory, academic, or diagnostic careers.
  • Contain a preliminary or concluding description of the outcome or significance of the work.
  • NOT exceed 350 words.
  • Meet format requirements: The body of the abstract should have one-inch margins and use Arial 10-point font. Center and bold the title. Center the name of the author(s) below the title with initials followed by last name. The location of author(s) should be placed directly below the author(s) name. Superscript numbers may be used to designate different locations for authors. Abstract will be considered final upon submission and shared with AAVLD/USAHA attendees.

IMPORTANT DATES:

  • September 1: Abstracts due as an e-mail attachment (MS Word compatible file) to Dr. Jim Fairles (jfairles@uoguelph.ca).
  • September 15th : Authors of selected abstracts notified with scheduled time for in person or online Q&A.
  • October 1st : Presentations recordings of 15 minutes or less due to Dr. Fairles. Recording guidance will be provided. (recommended even if in person attendance)
  • October 24th : Presenters should be available for in person or virtually for presentation / Q&A for their session between 3PM and 6PM Mountain Time.
