Position Announcement: Associated Swine Veterinarian - Mexico

Every day, independent family farms rely on Pipestone Veterinary Services to provide outstanding veterinary care to assist with their ability to provide a wholesome food source to help feed the growing world. We are looking for an entrepreneurial individual to join our fast-paced veterinary team as we continue our growth. What started as a small-town veterinary clinic in 1942, is now the largest swine veterinary clinic in the United States. Pipestone has also a strong presence in China and is rapidly growing in Mexico. The progressive and determined Mexican swine industry is going through a transformation to increase and improve the supply of healthy, affordable and delicious pork to its people, but also to grow in the global market. The opportunity to provide science-based and economically driven veterinary support with animal well-being, environmental and social responsibility to Mexican swine producers is unique and we want you to be part of this challenge.

As a veterinarian, you already have a pretty good idea of the day-to-day requirements associated with this type of job, but here are a few we would like to highlight.

Objective:

To provide outstanding veterinary care and service to the clients of Pipestone Veterinary Services

Functions:

  1. Possess a broad base of knowledge and skills requisite for the practice of veterinary medicine.
  2. Keep abreast of industry developments and apply best practices to areas of improvement.
  3. Demonstrate a scientific approach that is accompanied by ethical principles that are consistent with Pipestone core values.
  4. Understand livestock production practices and use to actively promote animal health, animal well-being, and food safety.
  5. Demonstrate the ability to communicate and influence credibly and effectively at all levels of the organization.
  6. Develop and maintain trusted and effective client relationships.

Activities:

  1. Generate an accurate diagnosis through a good history, a thorough clinical examination and appropriate diagnostic tests.
  2. Determine and communicate most effective treatment options and work with client to arrive at the best treatment plan.
  3. Design and monitor the execution of health programs, including biosecurity, surveillance, vaccination and medication.
  4. Develop and implement standard operating procedures to ensure profitability and high-quality care for our clients.

Position specifications:

  • DVM degree and a minimum of three years of experience in swine medicine and production.
  • Must be able to effectively communicate in English and comfortably manage Microsoft Office
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel.
