Holden Farms seeks a veterinarian based near Northfield, Minnesota to work with both sow farm and grow-finish production teams to ensure herd health and animal welfare, improve overall production, and promote pork safety, pork quality, and public health. In this position, the veterinarian would collaborate with the existing veterinary team and production teams at Holden Farms. Holden Farms has farms based in Minnesota, Iowa, and Wisconsin, with the main office based in Northfield, Minnesota.

Essential Job Functions

• Communicate and promote Holden Farms core values and goals to employees
• Effectively collaborate with other veterinarians, sow farm and grow-finish supervisors, and other management team members to reach farm and company goals
• Provide veterinary support to sow farm and grow/finish staff
• Provide support to the research team
• Help implement all S.O.P.'s and train members of the nursery/finish/sow teams
• Performance monitoring (nursery/finish/sow)
• Provide support for HFI's animal welfare program

• Organizational Skills
• Disease recognition and diagnostic efficiency
• Strong interpersonal skill
• Provide professional opinion and leadership regarding all aspects of swine management
• Ability to work in all Microsoft products to create spreadsheets, schedules, word documents
• Ability to respond to a large variety of phone calls quickly and efficiently
• Consistent positive and can-do attitude

Education/Experience

• Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree licensed in the states of Minnesota, Iowa, and Wisconsin
• Experience in the swine industry
