Due to COVID-19 restrictions, we are transitioning our 30th Annual Swine Conference to an Online Virtual Conference. While we are disappointed that we will not be able to see everyone in person, we are excited that going virtual allows us to welcome more attendees from all over the United States and around the World! NEW THIS YEAR - BTW Technician Session in English & Spanish!!!

We are excited to announce that we will be adding a BTW Technician Session to this year's agenda in both English and Spanish! This session will focus on practical training to support in barn execution of industry standard animal husbandry principles. We have slat level presentations on biosecurity, gilt management and other key production practices. Our online platform allows us to provide training and development to our farm employees who normally aren't able to get away from the farm to come to the in person conference, take advantage of this unique opportunity to provide your most important employees access to learn foundational pig husbandry skills from top industry experts!

This year's theme of "Challenge Accepted" will offer numerous successful speakers to present information about the dynamic issues that are currently challenging our businesses. We are in the midst of unprecedented domestic and international marketing situations, Brett Stuart will provide us with an update of what to expect going into fall markets. The threat of Foreign Animal Disease hangs over our industry with ASF creeping closer seemingly every month, we have updates from boots on the ground leaders fighting these battles in both Europe and Asia. With challenges from market conditions and Foreign Animal Disease threats, producers must develop their teams into best in class performers, we are blessed to have the President of The Maschhoffs Dr. Bradley Wolter join us alongside Dr. Bob Easter and Dr. Mike Ellis from the University of Illinois to share their perspectives and suggestions on how to best develop your workforce and realize it's potential.

Ventilation Training

In conjunction with 30th Annual Carthage Swine Conference, Carthage Veterinary Service will still be offering an in-person Ventilation Workshop on the day prior to the conference, Monday, August 31, 2020. This event will be limited to 40 attendees. This workshop will focus on both breed-to-wean and wean-to-market ventilation and will be tailored to producers and employees at the on farm level.

The workshop will explore ventilation design, components, and principles (controllers, inlets, fans, and cooling, emergency systems) and their interaction with pigs. Time will be spent in the barn applying principles taught in gestation, farrowing, and wean to market barns. The workshop will explore new technologies and application - advanced controllers and positive pressure ventilation design. We will also work through cases and trouble shoot everyday problems. We have the capability to smoke a room to visualize air patterns from observation windows. You will leave this session understanding the principles of ventilation and ability to apply them immediately in your barns.

The session will run from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Carthage Learning and Development Center (309 N 2nd Street, Carthage, IL 62321). The cost for each participant is $100. Snacks and a noon lunch will be served.
