Healthy Farms Healthy Agriculture Biosecurity Community Conversations

You are invited to participate in the Spring 2020 series of Healthy Farms Healthy Agriculture (HFHA) Biosecurity Community Conversations, as an online Zoom meeting.

When:

  • Thursday, March 19 at 1:00 p.m. EST
  • Thursday, April 23 at 1:00 p.m. EST
  • Thursday, May 14 at 1:00 p.m. EST

The initial series features Extension experts in composting on-farm mortalities. Whether for ordinary death loss or catastrophic loss from disease or natural disaster, composting has biosecurity benefits and considerations.

What are the HFHA Community Conversations about?

  • They are web meetings designed to support the needs of extension, veterinary, and other personnel who engage with farmers about biosecurity.
  • They feature a brief presentation from someone with experience working with producers on a particular aspect of biosecurity.
  • They allow you to create collaborative connections with others.
  • They encourage you to continue learning from one another through community forums.

Register for the Thursday, March 19 web meeting on Zoom

The HFHA Community Conversations introduce the HFHA Community Forums.

  • The forums facilitate continuing the conversation.
  • Exchange stories and information on biosecurity-related topics.
  • Enhance your capacity to more effectively engage production-level stakeholders in implementing appropriate biosecurity practices.
  • Register to participate in these forums and connect with the community: forums.healthyagriculture.org

The HFHA Community Conversations tour the new HFHA website.

  • The site provides easy access to top-shelf information and resources.
  • Resources include assessment and training tools and plan-building support for all types of farmers, ranchers, and livestock owners.
  • Visit the web-based hub for biosecurity here: https://www.healthyagriculture.org
  • Tell us what else you would like to see on the site.
  • Add a link to this site on your website.

The HFHA Community Conversations, website, and forums are being developed with the support of the USDA NIFA under award number 2015-69004-23273. The project director, Dr. Julie Smith, can be reached at jmsmith@uvm.edu. We are always looking for ways to improve our site and add to the resources being featured. Please be in touch with Joanna.Cummings@uvm.edu if you have suggestions.
